Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and an ally of the United States. That is why it is critical that we Americans maximize our knowledge of Israel and learn how to be upstanders for the State of Israel and, if necessary, constructively critical as a pro-Israel advocate for the benefit of Israel. This includes Israel’s relationship with, and benefit to, the United States, its breakthroughs in medicine, technology, and energy production, and ultimately the issues currently affecting the viability and survival of the State of Israel. Temple Shalom created the Israel Today Community Symposium in 2016 to provide its congregants and the entire Dallas community, both Jews and non-Jews, with this knowledge. In 2017 the Jewish and Non-Jewish communities joined together to present this symposium.
Yes! We are all Israel – whether Jewish or non-Jewish. So, we meet to study, to learn, and to understand even more about Israel, and the issues that Israel faces.
In the past attendees have selected from more than two dozen Israel-centric topics presented by widely respected and highly regarded educators and pro-Israel advocates, who educate our entire community on topics such as Israeli immigration and resulting cultural conflicts; Israel’s historical relationship with the United States; history of the Arab/Israel conflict; Israel’s missile defense needs and capability; combatting BDS on campus, in the business community, and in the legislature; contributions by Israel to the world; Israeli foods and wines; Israeli Cyber-Security; and why Israel is important to non-Jews, to just name a few.
We thank all of you for recognizing the importance of a symposium that enables all members of our community to learn and express viewpoints on the common objective of a safe and secure Jewish State of Israel.
